Joining procedure
If you are interested in applying for membership please contact us using the information on the 'Contact Us' page. You will then receive an invitation to visit the club and after being shown around you will be given an application form so please bring government ID such as a driving licence or passport that has your home address & DOB on it & which we will take a copy of and £10 in CASH per person, we do not have card payment facilities at the club.
On the form you will also be asked for the full names and the private home addresses of two referees (who cannot be your relatives, and who live at different addresses from you and the other referee) who are willing to vouch for you, who will be contacted.
The membership form is then submitted to the Met. Police firearms departments who will perform their own checks.
The checks can take weeks -or longer at certain periods.
The minimum age for individual membership is 17yrs. for pistol and 14yrs. for target rifle and air weapons provided that the person is of sufficient stature to handle a weapon safely. We especially welcome applications from Cadets, Scout & Guide Association members and other youth organisations but we do insist that anyone under 18 is accompanied by their parent or guardian.
If you do not hold a firearms certificate the law requires that you complete a probationary period of membership of not less than three months in which time you will receive training in both safety and marksmanship to a required safe standard. This club has a minimum probationary period of six months for non-Firearm Certificate (FAC) holders.
There is a £95 joining fee for all probationary members (which is non-returnable). During your probationary training period all equipment hire & training is free and ammunition & targets are available at low prices from our armoury. Typical prices for .22LR ammunition is £4 to £5 per box of 50 rounds and approx. 10p per target. All ammunition is held at the club under lock & key, unless you have authorisation on your UK FAC to keep at home, and you will be asked to sign a declaration that you have no live rounds on you before leaving the range.
Note that unauthorised removal of live ammunition from the range is a criminal offence and will be reported instantly to the police with no exceptions. Ammunition can only be possessed by an FAC holder who has that calibre authorised on their Firearms Certificate.
Only when you have satisfactorily completed the probationary period will you be eligible to take up an invitation to become a full member of this club. Upon being accepted as a full member you will be required to pay the rest of your membership fee up to the end of the 31st December (pro-rata).
We welcome applications for membership from current firearm certificate holders and whilst it is club policy that all prospective members serve a period as a probationary member, providing that their safety is of a good standard the same facilities will be available to you as a full member.
