Due to being inundated with interested people -a situation that we've never had before, we've had to suspend our membership entry procedure until at least July 2023 to enable us to clear the backlog of probationers. In the meantime, if you are still interested in applying for membership, please contact me using the information on the 'Contact Us' page and I'll keep a record of your email to be ready to send out invitations in mid-2023. You may still visit the range to view our facilities but we won't be taking any applications.
We have a training programme that takes place every Thursday evening that all probationers must attend as part of the Home Office rules. Home Office rules state that a minimum three month period is required but we have a six month training period. This ensures that all training is carried out twice to cover all our disciplines.
Every Thursday, in rolling 4 week periods from 7pm, we will cover safety & marksmanship training in Target Rifle, Sporting Rifle (both of these in .22 cartridge) and Air Pistol & Rifle (.177).
Extra training & enhanced safety training will be given in Gallery Rifle and Black-powder Pistol after being a full member for 6 months & once you attain the required proficiency & accuracy with .22 calibre rifles. Full-bore Target Rifle (7.62mm calibre) training will be given at later dates at Bisley during our usual shoots throughout the year.
The dedicated training evenings are in addition to our normal evening periods when instruction is available but only when instructors are free but Thursdays are for probationers only and we can guarantee that instructors will be available.
The cost of training is free and the hire of the equipment is still free for probationers. You just pay for your ammunition and the targets. After your training, the ammunition is kept at site under the control of the club. Please note that ANY attempt to smuggle live ammunition off the range is a criminal offence and people will be instantly suspended and reported to the police.
Please email the Membership Secretary for more information.
